ABOUT KENNETT SQUARE:
Founded in 1853, Kennett Square is rich in history and is located in the heart of the Brandywine Valley. The quaint streets of Kennett Square are an idealic picture of small town America. State Street, the borough's town center, is lined with unique shops and galleries, gourmet restaurants and welcoming bed and breakfasts. While Kennett Square may seem quiet in contrast to it's neighboring city Wilmington, DE, a sleepy town it is not. As the "Mushroom Capital of the World", Kennett Square has earned this title by producing over a million pounds of mushrooms a year. To celebrate this heritage, Kennett Square is host to the annual Kennett Mushroom Festival which is held in early September. Several other festivals to include The Microbrew Festival and the celebration of Cinco de Mayo attract families and visitors throughout the year.
